Su Lenk, founder of AzSu Alpacas and The Alpaca Barn shop started as an alpaca livestock breeder in 1998 and was known for her expertise in camelid husbandry and the superb Peruvian bloodlines of her award winning herd. She travelled extensively in Peru learning about alpacas and their fibre, including visiting the Peruvian textile mills. She also travelled frequently to Italy and Paris to the fashion yarn and trend shows, enhancing her designs for the forthcoming seasons. Following her untimely death in September 2010 the enterprise is being carried forward by Su’s daughter Nikki who has been inspired by her mother’s passion for these wonderful animals.
